Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaitė stated on Wednesday that the Ukrainian administration is responsible for the situation in Kiev, strongly condemning the bloodshed in the Ukrainian capital.

“The president strongly condemns the bloodshed and violence in Kiev. The Ukrainian leadership is responsible for the situation,” Grybauskaitė said in a comment forwarded to BNS by her press service.

On Wednesday, the Ukrainian police stormed the barricades of protesters in Kiev. Activists said one person was gunned down by security forces. Ukraine’s Interior Ministry confirmed the casualty but said the causes of death are yet to be established.

Mass protests in Ukraine broke out after President Viktor Yanukovych refused to sign the Association and Free Trade Agreement with the European Union (EU) during the Vilnius summit last November. An increase in the number of clashes between security forces and radical activists has been lately observed in Kiev.
