Estonian company builds Lithuania’s biggest bio-energy station

Estonian energy and water management solutions company Filter AS have concluded a contract with the Lietuvos Energijos Gamyba AB for carrying out the Elektrenai heating station-boiler house project, the cost of the contract amounting to 30.3 million euros, The Baltic Course reported with reference to Äripäev.

The new station will be completed in the spring of 2015. Filter Group carried out the project together with Kauno Energo Remontas.

The heating plant is an extension of the Lithuanian Power Plant near the town of Elektrenai. LPP is the biggest Lithuanian power station with total capacity of 1,955 MW.

The Elektrenai heating station will be the biggest producer of heating from bio-fuel in Lithuania, reported LETA.

Filter has subsidiaries in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Belarus and Bulgaria. Filter Group’s total turnover was 63 million euros in 2012, and the 2013 forecast is 70 million euros.
