Unemployment decreases fastest in the Baltic states – Eurostat

The three EU member states with the fastest declining annual unemployment are Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, reported Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

The three EU member states with the fastest declining annual unemployment are Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, reported Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, informs bbn.ee

Compared with a year ago, the largest annual decreases were observed in Estonia (11.5% to 9.6%), Lithuanian (14.2% to 12.4%) and Latvia (15.7% to 14.2%).

As at October 2012 on seasonally adjusted data, Latvia had fifth-highest unemployment rate in EU, Lithuania’s unemployment was 9th highest and Estonia’s rate was 14th highest.

Finland’s unemployment rate was 7.7%, 18th highest.

EU27 average unemployment in October was 10.7%, while the eurozone average was 11.7%.
