President Grybauskaite rejects Labour Party’s candidates for Ministries

According to 15min.lt referring to BNS, internal sources at the Labour Party’s presidium are currently holding extraordinary meetings to deal with the fact that President Dalia Grybauskaite has rejected three potential candidates for minister.

According to 15min.lt referring to BNS, internal sources at the Labour Party’s presidium are currently holding extraordinary meetings to deal with the fact that President Dalia Grybauskaite has rejected three potential candidates for minister.

The same sources assured that Prime Minister, Algirdas Butkevicius, was informed earlier that Loreta Grauziniene was found as an unacceptable choice to head the Ministry of Social Security and Labour. Furthermore and according to these sources, President Grybauskaite also rejected Virginija Baltraitiene (Ministry of Education and Science) and the potential candidates for the Ministry of Culture, Kestutis Dauksys and Sarunas Birutis.

Labour Party’s Deputy Chairman, Vytautas Gapsys confirmed to BNS that his party was holding a meeting, “the existing situation will be discussed,” although he refused to mention if the meeting was related to the president’s alleged rejections. According to the sources, Prime Minister, Algirdas Butkevicius was also invited to the Labour Party’s meeting.

As part of the coalition agreement, the Labour Party will command four ministries: Social Security and Labour, Education and Science, Agriculture and Culture.
