Last week Lithuanian products were introduced in one of the major international food and beverage industry exhibitions SIAL Middle East 2014 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A delegation headed by Minister of Agriculture Virginija Baltraitienė visited the UAE. It is hoped the step will help Lithuanian agricultural producers to find new markets.

A delegation headed by Minister of Agriculture Virginija Baltraitienė visited the UAE. It is hoped the step will help Lithuanian agricultural producers to find new markets.
The delegation met with Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority. The meeting focused on bilateral co-operation, bilaterally beneficial projects and export opportunities. Lithuanian businesspeople were invited to invest in the UAE due to advantageous tax policy.
"Our goal is to present Lithuanian products to a wider range of consumers reaching yet unknown markets. Especially now, when we are shifting our export direction and developing laws so that manufacturers can supply produce to Eastern markets," said Minister of Agriculture Virginija Baltraitienė.
"We have made contacts not only with the United Arab Emirates but also with the neighbouring countries, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan. Already next year we will start working in this direction, we will exchange goods' samples and develop ties," said Mindaugas Zvykas, head of export of agricultural co-operative Krekenavos Mėsa.
