Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet fighter-jets on Saturday escorted a Russian military airplane Ilyushin II-20 flying above neutral waters next to Lithuania.
The Russian Federation's warplane was flying in accordance to a plan finalized in advance and did not violate Lithuania's air-space, the Defence Ministry said.
According to the press release, procedures of the NATO air-policing mission envisage escort of aircrafts flying close to borders of the three Baltic states in cases when they follow routes agreed in advance.
