Seimas Speaker voices support to Moldova for European integration

Speaker of the Seimas Loreta Grauzinene, currently in Moldova, said in a meeting this morning with President of Moldova’s Parliament Igor Corman that Lithuania supports Moldova’s aspiration for European integration.

“I am glad being able to meet with you in Moldova. Lithuania supports Moldova’s determination to go on the European path. We expressed that in a resolution adopted by the Seimas of Lithuania last week and support the signature, ratification and implementation of association agreements between the European Union and Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine. This is what I want to reiterate here in Chisinau,” Grauziniene said.

The meeting focused on Moldova’s plans to sign an association agreement with the EU in the summer, a Seimas spokesperson said.

Grauziniene said Lithuania is ready to share its own experiences in becoming an EU member state and advised Moldova to be focused and well prepared for the implementation of the association agreement.

Grauziniene is on a working visit to Moldova this week where she is attending NB8-format meetings with parliamentary speakers from the Nordic and Baltic countries.
