Lithuanian defence minister to pledge support in Kiev

(BNS) Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Juozas Olekas will meet his counterpart, Ukrainian Colonel General Mikhail Koval in Kiev today to sign a bilateral cooperation plan stressing Lithuana’s willingness to support Ukraine’s military, reported Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence.

“The ministers will discuss the security situation in Ukraine, Lithuania’s possible assistance in strengthening Ukraine’s armed forces as well as issues related to the establishment of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade (LITPOLUKRBRIG),” Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defense said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense said, “Lithuania does not recognize the Crimean annexation and condemns Russia’s aggressive actions aimed against Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Olekas is also scheduled to travel to Armenia and Belarus.
