President Dalia Grybauskaite raises doubts if possible NATO military bases could be set in Lithuania, but assures that country is prepared to take necessary defence decisions, according to the need.

 President Dalia Grybauskaite raises doubts if possible NATO military bases could be set in Lithuania, but assures that country is prepared to take necessary defence decisions, according to the need.

In 2008, Lithuania's Constitutional Court stated that foreign military bases on the Lithuanian territory are prohibited. However, it is possible to set bases controlled by Allies in co-operation with Lithuania. President's Chief Advisor, Daiva Ulbinaite, has stressed that Lithuanian bases are ready to welcome the Alliance troops for military drills and other activities aimed at ensuring Lithuania’s security.
