  The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania, a Polish party which is part of the ruling coalition, is nominating its leader MEP Valdemar Tomaševski for the upcoming presidential elections.

The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania, a Polish party which is part of the ruling coalition, is nominating its leader MEP Valdemar Tomaševski for the upcoming presidential elections.

The decision was made by the party’s council on Wednesday, Tomaševski himself confirmed it to BNS. In his words, the decision still needs official confirmation by the party’s conference on Monday.

Tomaševski took part in the last presidential elections and came in fourth with 4.68 per cent of votes.

Lithuania will hold presidential elections on 11 May.

Ten people already have been registered as participants of the political campaign. They include the incumbent President Dalia Grybauskaitė; Social Democratic candidate, MEP Zigmantas Balčytis; and the Labour Party’s candidate, MP Artūras Paulauskas, among others.
