A group of migrants attacked Lithuanian border guards after entering the country through a tunnel on the border with Belarus, news portal Delfi reported on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on July 26 in the area of the Kapciamiestis border station, but the State Border Guard Service had not previously disclosed the incident publicly.

According to Delfi, border guards detected a tunnel being dug under the state border and waited for migrants to come through.
When the first people emerged from the tunnel, four officers detained them and put them in handcuffs. However, about 20 more migrants then emerged from the tunnel and attacked the officers, forcing them to retreat, according to Delfi.
The migrants, including those in handcuffs, fled back into Belarusian territory.
The State Border Guard Service (VSAT) previously announced the discovery of a tunnel but did not disclose the attack on its officers.
VSAT spokesperson Lina Laurinaityte said on Wednesday that information about the assault would be released once permission was granted by the prosecutor's office leading the pre-trial investigation.
According to the official, neither the officers nor the migrants were injured during the incident.
