BNS 2026.06.09 18:07

Lithuania is buying military SUVs and lorries for about 1 billion euros, the Defence Ministry announced on Tuesday.

“This acquisition is one of the largest investments in the logistics capabilities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces,” the ministry said in a statement.

The Defence Materiel Agency signed the contract with Veho Lietuva, representing Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Daimler AG. The acquisition includes MB G-Class military SUVs and MB Unimog, MB Zetros and MB Arocs lorries.

The project is partially funded by European Union SAFE funds, with vehicle deliveries scheduled for 2026–2032.

The ministry said the chosen manufacturer ensures compatibility with the existing military transport fleet, thereby reducing operating, training and maintenance costs.

Lithuania aims to develop its infantry division by 2030.
