Thirteen additional flights between Vilnius and Frankfurt have been cancelled midweek as strike action at Lufthansa continues, bringing the total number of disrupted services on the route to 23 this week, Lithuanian Airports said Tuesday.
Spokesperson Martynas Jaugelavičius said 12 flights were cancelled Wednesday and Thursday – three arrivals and three departures each day – with one departure from Vilnius Airport also cancelled for Friday.
“Due to the ongoing Lufthansa industrial action, all of the company’s flights between Vilnius and Frankfurt on April 15 and 16 – three departures and three arrivals – have been cancelled, along with one departure on the 17th,” Jaugelavičius said.
He said the latest disruptions stem from a strike by Lufthansa flight attendants.
The cancellations add to earlier disruptions this week. Six flights were cancelled last Friday due to cabin crew strikes, while pilot walkouts on Monday and Tuesday led to 10 additional cancellations on the Vilnius–Frankfurt route.
The airline has faced repeated labour action in recent days, causing widespread delays and cancellations across its European network.
