Latvian carrier Air Baltic is to suspend its Kaunas–Riga service from May 7, just weeks after launching the route, citing rising fuel costs.
The route, which began at the end of March, has become economically unviable, the airline announced on Friday.
"Fuel costs have risen to such an extent that we decided to suspend the route rather than increase ticket prices to a level that would make them unaffordable for our passengers. This was a difficult but necessary decision," said Mantas Vrubliauskas, the company's deputy president for network management.
Air Baltic said it does not plan to make changes to its other routes in Lithuania.
