A temporary aid warehouse operated by the Lithuanian nonprofit Blue/Yellow was completely destroyed in a Russian drone strike overnight Friday, the organisation reported.
The facility in Kyiv was hit during a Shahed drone attack, which also severely damaged surrounding buildings, according to the group.
The warehouse was one of several used by Blue/Yellow to temporarily store aid sent from Lithuania before delivery to the front lines. Fortunately, it was nearly empty at the time of the strike, containing only personal protective equipment – such as helmets and vests – used in the group’s medical missions. No injuries were reported, and the organisation said it did not suffer major losses.
“No one in Ukraine is safe from such attacks. This is the daily reality of this war. The most important thing is that everyone is safe,” said Laura Paukštė, director of Blue/Yellow. “The foundation suffered no significant losses, and our work continues – we will keep collecting and sending aid to Ukraine’s defenders.”
Kyiv has faced near-nightly attacks in recent weeks, with air raid sirens frequently sounding from around 23:00 until morning.
Blue/Yellow emphasised that aid to Ukraine remains critically important. While the material damage from this strike was minimal, the organisation said the attack underscores the dangerous conditions under which Ukrainians live and fight.
The nonprofit is currently running a summer fundraising campaign called “Dronaton”, aiming to raise €1 million to purchase drones for Ukrainian forces.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Blue/Yellow has delivered more than 5,000 drones and accessories to Ukraine. Founded in 2014, the group has raised more than €100 million in aid for the country.
