Financial situation of Lithuania’s residents keeps improving.

Financial situation of Lithuania’s residents keeps improving.

The signs of improving financial situation might be observed in households on the lowest incomes, though there are no changes in general statistics of household financial assets and liabilities, The Baltic Course writes with reference to the news agency ELTA.

According to the survey conducted by SEB bank, favourable economic conditions enabled households on higher incomes to take advantage of emerging financial opportunities: more new loans have been issued, retail turnover rates have increased. Moreover, although the amount of deposits has also increased, it was more a seasonal phenomenon rather than a returning need for security.

In the opinion of Julita Varanauskienė, family finance expert at SEB Bank, the sign of improving financial situation is that people tend more to take out loans rather than to pay off them.

According to Varanauskienė, economic environment should not worsen: faster rise in average salary, fall in unemployment and low inflation are expected in the nearest future.
