UEFA has fined Lithuania’s Football Federation 10,000 euros for an anti-Putin chant. However, one of the national team leaders, Justas Lasickas, has urged the fans to continue.

"Keep chanting, we will [pay the fines with] our bonuses if we have to," Lasickas said on Instagram.

Lithuania’s federation was fined after the game against Serbia in September.

Similar chants aimed against Russian President Vladimir Putin are often heard at other sporting events in Lithuania. The particularly popular, expletive-laden chant originated in Kharkiv, Ukraine, following Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea.

On Friday, the LFF said it would lodge an appeal against the fine.
