Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis met with Karim Khan, chief prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC), in the Netherlands on Monday to hand him information on the alleged criminal transfer of Ukrainian children to Belarus.

The data on the alleged unlawful transfer of over 2,000 Ukrainian children, mostly orphans, from occupied Ukrainian territories to camps in Belarus was gathered by the Belarusian opposition.

Landsbergis and Khan discussed international processes to ensure accountability of Russian and Belarusian officials responsible for the war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

The foreign minister earlier forwarded the data to the Lithuanian Prosecutor General’s Office, which has opened a pre-trial investigation into the deportation and displacement of civilians and the separation of children.
