The so-called “receipt scandal” has pushed the ruling Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) from second to fourth place in the party popularity ratings, according to a new survey by Vilmorus, published by the Lietuvos Rytas daily on Saturday.
If the Seimas election were to be held on the upcoming Sunday, 7.9 percent of respondents would vote for TS-LKD, down from 9.9 percent in April.
The survey was carried out amid the scandal of allegedly non-transparent payouts to former Kaunas Council Members, including several ministers in the current cabinet. As a result, the TS-LKD presidium proposed to initiate a snap parliament election, saying that they want to “reset” the political system.
