Lithuanian Culture Minister Simonas Kairys on Thursday met with his French counterpart Rima Abdul Malak in Paris to discuss the Lithuanian cultural season in France next year.
“The Lithuanian cultural season will feature an important theme of resilience, including the resilience of societies and critical thinking,” Kairys said.
“Lithuania has shown its resilience throughout history by having a long-term vision and by cultivating its freedom. For the French, these values have also been very important for a long time,” the minister added.
Virginija Vitkienė, the commissioner of the Lithuanian season in France, briefed the two ministers on the themes of the upcoming events, the Culture Ministry said.
The forthcoming Lithuanian cultural season is a welcome step, the French minister said, adding that the French are interested in Lithuania, but they are still not very familiar with its culture. One of the key objectives of the Lithuanian season is to establish long-term cultural partnerships, she added.
The Lithuanian season in France will take place from September to December 2024, not only in Paris but also in Lyon, Grenoble, Marseille, Nice, Toulouse, Aix, and other cities.
