Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov on his TV show on the Rossiya-1 channel attacked Western countries supplying Ukraine with weapons and threatened that “they’ll give everything, until we deal with them harshly and clearly”, according to a report by Newsweek.

He also commented on statements by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda that Vilnius provided 660 million euros in aid to Ukraine last year and will continue to do so this year. In an interview with LRT, Nausėda called on NATO to cross the “red lines” and provide more military aid to Ukraine, including fighter jets.

Solovyov said that “when Lithuania no longer exists, he [Nausėda] will ask: Why did you come after us?”

“We have given them the right to exist. It means that we need to take this right away. These countries couldn’t handle independence, they didn’t defeat us. As a goodwill gesture, we gave them independence. For some reason, they are now our enemies, deliberately calling for the destruction of our nation, of our culture, of our people. Why do we put up with their existence?” Solovyov asked in his programme.

On Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also reacted to Nausėda's words.

“In general, we see an extremely aggressive position from representatives of the Baltic countries and Poland. They are apparently ready to do anything to provoke the growth of further confrontation, with little regard for the consequences,” Peskov said, as quoted by the Russian news agency RIA.

Back in June, Solovyov claimed on his show that Russia was ready for a confrontation with NATO. He called for tougher action against Ukraine and threatened nuclear strikes in his broadcasts, although the Kremlin has publicly rejected this possibility.
