Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda is visiting Ukraine on Wednesday, Yaroslav Viznyak, Lithuania’s honorary consul in Ternopil, confirmed to LRT.
“Today, President Gitanas Nausėda is in Poland and Ukraine. He is here in Lviv [...]. This is a working visit because of the situation in Ukraine,” he told LRT RADIO.
Viznyak said that Nausėda had met with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.
The president's office later confirmed that Nausėda was in Ukraine for a trilateral meeting with Zelensky and Polish President Andrzej Duda.
“The second Lublin Triangle summit reaffirmed the importance of the centuries-long strategic partnership between Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine and the unwavering commitment of Lithuania and Poland to provide Ukraine with all assistance to defend itself against Russian military aggression,” the Lithuanian president’s office said in a press release.

Nausėda said that “Lithuania and Poland have confirmed their determination to continue providing military, political, diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian support to Ukraine”.
“The war in Ukraine is our war – the war of the free world against a dictator. We will stand with Ukraine until victory as long as it takes,” he added.
The summit in Lviv had not been announced in advance.
“In the run-up to the NATO summit in Vilnius, we agreed with President Zelensky and President Duda to focus our efforts on advancing Ukraine’s further Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations,” said Nausėda.

“Membership of the European Union and NATO are national strategic objectives, enshrined in Ukraine’s constitution which Ukrainians today defend with arms in hand. It is therefore our duty to do everything possible to help them,” he added.
The joint declaration signed by the Lithuanian, Polish and Ukrainian leaders provides for further trilateral consultations to bolster Ukraine’s security, according to the press release.
This is Nausėda’s third visit to Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of the country in February 2022.
