Vilnius hosts the biggest contemporary Art Fair in the Baltic countries ‘ArtVilnius’.
‘ArtVilnius’ is mainly dedicated to visual arts and has a vast exhibition of sculptural objects and installations. More than 50 galleries from Lithuania and other countries display 1000 works created by 500 artists.
This year’s main attraction is the India’s Contemporary Art exposition from ‘Galerija 21’ in Latvia. Head of the gallery lived in India and selected a number of works by most famous Indian artists.
Best galleries and artists were awarded during the ‘ArtVilnius’ Opening Ceremony . India’s art presented by Latvians received awards in two nominations – Best Foreign Gallery and Best Foreign Artist. Audrone Petrasiunaite was named Best Lithuanian artist.
The agenda of the Art Fair also includes an education program for children, youth and adults, meetings with artists, podium discussions, lectures, and a cycle of videos about artists as well as various campaigns and performances.
This year ‘ArtVilnius’ is being held for the third time. The Fair at the ‘Litexpo’ Exhibition Centre will be open till 1 July.
