A Lithuanian priest has been cleared of allegations of sexually abusing a minor in Detroit, the Archdiocese of Vilnius said on Thursday.

The Archdiocese has been informed that the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, having received the results of the Archdiocese of Detroit’s preliminary investigation regarding the priest Aloyzas Volskis, confirmed the conclusion that the allegations against the priest were not substantiated.

The priest was accused of abusing a minor in the Archdiocese of Detroit.

“Priest Aloyzas Volskis is returning to his active priestly service. The priest has not yet been assigned to a specific parish,” the Archdiocese of Vilnius said, adding that neither the Archdiocese of Vilnius, nor the Diocese of Telšiai have received any similar complaints against the priest.

The Archdiocese of Vilnius had suspended the priest because of the abuse allegations. It was reported that Volskis had allegedly sexually abused an 8-year-old minor in the US more than a decade ago.
