Animal photography from underneath

Algirdas Acus2017.02.28 10:44

Lithuanian photographer makes marvellous photos by shooting cats, dogs and horses from underneath while they stand on a glass plate.

At first it were cats, then dogs and now LRT reporters followed him to witness how horses can be photographed from underneath.
Photographer Andrius Burba calls this method an ‘underlook’ and it is a simple, yet an off-beat way to throw a fresh look at our ordinary animals.
‘Not that this is my discovery, only my version, how could I make it. So I made a very simple photo shoot with a table, a cat, lights, black setting. The only difference was that I made it professionally,’ tells Andrius Burba after remembering how he saw similar pictures on the Internet some time ago.
He then organized a professional photo shoot at the cat show where he pictured 50 cats and the images exceeded his expectations.
After sharing his photos in social media he received lots of attention from international media and even an offer from German publisher Riva to publish his own book.
He later published two books, the second of them dedicated to dogs, and now works with horses. Here Andrius had to put more effort thou by digging a special hole and setting a special glass.
‘I always wanted to be a fashion and an advertising photographer, but one year ago with that one photo shoot everything  changed, I am know thinking about this’, says Burba.
Andrius promises that Under-tigers will be his next target.
‘We found one person in Germany although we have not yet discussed it with him’.

ANDRIUS BURBA, underlook photographer:

Some time ago, on the Internet I saw how people photograph their cat on a glass. It was on a simple table at home. I saw how paws of the kitten looked like and I got interested. I tried to make my own version. Not that this is my discovery, only my version, how could I make it. So I made a very simple photo shoot with a table, a cat, lights, black setting. The only difference was that I made it professionally.
