Agreement on the status of the US troops deployed in Lithuania

On Tuesday, Lithuania and the United States signed an agreement on the status of the US troops in Lithuanian territory.

It is in our interest that American troops would be there as much as possible and that their participation would be constant. It is natural that within the current level of co-operation there should be clear conditions that would not cause any doubts.

In this agreement, after it is ratified in the Parliament, Lithuania commits to simplify procedures in order to make it easier the arrival and the presence of the US military personnel. Lithuania also commits to provide all necessary conditions for joint military drills and other joint projects.
