Defects, pandemic delay delivery of Boxer IFVs to Lithuania

BNS2021.12.03 09:52

German-made Vilkas infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) will be delivered to Lithuania at least a year later than planned due to defects and supply-chain disruptions, the Defence Ministry said on Thursday.

"The IFV manufacturing process is continuing, but the delivery of the newly produced vehicles runs behind schedule due to identified defects that require more time to fix, and the process has been also affected by the global pandemic and the resulting supply chain disruptions," the ministry said in a press release.

The final delivery deadline has been postponed to late 2022, from late 2021 under the contract.

The ministry would not disclose how many IFVs are to be delivered, citing security requirements.
