Coronavirus: Lithuania reports 1,915 new cases, 23 deaths

Lithuania has confirmed 1,915 new coronavirus infections and 23 deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Tuesday morning.

Seventeen of the fatalities were either not vaccinated or only partially vaccinated.

A total of 9,855 people have been vaccinated over the past 24 hours, including 2,385 with their first jab. Overall, 65.8 percent of the population have been vaccinated at least once.

The total number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals stands at 1,779, including 155 ICU cases, with 147 admitted on Monday.

Some 12,900 molecular (PCR) tests for Covid-19 and 10,700 antigen tests have been performed over the past 24 hours.

The 14-day infection rate has edged down to 1,196 per 100,000 people over the past 24 hours and the seven-day percentage of positive tests has fallen to 12.4 percent. Both numbers have been on the decline since the start of last week.
