Lithuania plans to have direct passenger flights between the country and Kazakhstan starting next year, according to a press release by the Transport and Communications Ministry.

“As we are arranging and complementing the map of flights from Lithuania [and] Kazakhstan is among our most important destinations in Asia due to its economic relations with Lithuania,” Transport Minister Marius Skuodis said in a statement.

The planned routes will link Vilnius with Nur-Sultan and Almaty, according to a joint letter of intent signed by the countries in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan on October 12.

The ministry has not provided more details.
