A total of 2,962 irregular migrants have been registered in Lithuania and 2,800 of them have applied for asylum, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
The number of registered migrants does not include those who have tested positive for Covid-19 and are in quarantine.
Another 512 migrants remained unregistered because they did not submit asylum applications, according to the Interior Ministry.
A total of 164 migrants have been returned to their countries of origin. Some of them have left voluntarily, using the state's financial assistance, or have been sent out.
Currently, another 55 migrants have expressed their intention to return voluntarily to their country of origin, the ministry said.
