Lithuania has registered 649 new coronavirus infections and five deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Wednesday morning.
Three of the fatalities were in their 70s. The other two were aged between 50 and 70. They had not been vaccinated.
Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate has risen to 278.8 cases per 100,000 people, and the daily share of positive tests is 4.6 percent, according to the latest statistics.
Overall, 295,373 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic. The number of active cases has edged down to 6,669.
There are currently 474 Covid-19 patients being treated in Lithuania's hospitals, 64 of them in intensive care.
A total of 4,505 people have died from Covid-19 in Lithuania so far.
Over 13,000 people were vaccinated on Tuesday: 6,020 received their first shot and 7,392 got the second jab.
Overall, 58.1 percent of the country's population – or 68.5 percent of all adults – have been vaccinated at least once.
