Lithuania approves Moderna vaccine for teenagers

BNS2021.07.30 13:56

Moderna's Covid-19 vaccine has been approved for use to immunise teenagers in Lithuania, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

The decision follows the European Medicines Agency's recommendation that Moderna's vaccine be authorised for children aged 12 to 17 years.

Currently, the two-shot vaccine is administered to people aged 18 years and over.

It is the second coronavirus vaccine approved for adolescents in Lithuania after the one developed by Pfizer-BioNTech.

The other two vaccines used in the country – AstraZeneca and Janssen – are only given to adults.
