Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg discussed the situation on the border with Belarus during their phone conversation on Friday.
"I exchanged the most relevant information on regional security with the head of NATO in the face of the Belarusian hybrid attack and the upcoming Zapad 2021 Russian military exercises," Landsbergis said in a press release.
"Our partners are very closely monitoring and assessing the situation," he added.
Lithuania has been facing an unprecedented influx of irregular migrants in recent months. This year so far, over 2,400 people have been detained after crossing into the country from Belarus.
Vilnius says the migration influx is an organised campaign by the Belarusian regime against Lithuania.
