President appoints his adviser to Lithuania's central bank board

President Gitanas Nausėda has appointed his adviser Simonas Krėpšta to the board of the Bank of Lithuania.

Krėpšta will fill a vacant spot in the bank's five-member executive body.

He was Nausėda's chief adviser on economic and social policy. Irena Segalovičienė, who is advising the president on social issues, will replace Krėpšta in Nausėda's team, according to the president's office.

Krėpšta has been a president's adviser for the last two years. Previously, he had served in various positions within the Bank of Lithuania.

The Board of the Bank of Lithuania has five seats. The other members are Gediminas Šimkus, who chairs the board, Asta Kuniyoshi, Raimondas Kuodis, and Marius Jurgilas.

Members of the central bank's board are appointed for a six-year term by the president.
