Landsbergis is going to Kyiv on Thursday in show of “support and solidarity” with Ukraine, according to the agency.

The plans have been confirmed by Landsbergis' spokeswoman Vytautė Šmaižytė.

The foreign ministers of Latvia and Estonia may also join the initiative, according to Elta's sources.

The Ukrainian government claims that Russia has amassed over 40,000 troops close to its border with the Donbass region in Eastern Ukraine.

The moves are seen as latest escalations in the ongoing conflict between the Kyiv government and Russia-backed separatists in the Donbass.
