Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid will meet with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda on Wednesday to discuss the Covid-19 pandemic, as well the situation in Russia and Belarus.
The visit comes on the heels of the two countries’ 100th anniversary of de jure diplomatic relations, the Lithuanian presidential office said.
The meeting between the two leaders will focus on containing the pandemic and measures to overcome its consequences, bilateral and Baltic-Nordic cooperation, security and defence, NATO, the situation in Belarus and Russia, Eastern Partnership and its agenda, Astravyets nuclear power plant, and ways to speed up the power synchronisation project, the office said.
The Estonian president will also lay flowers to the Monument to Freedom Fighters and visit the Belarusian university-in-exile based in Vilnius, the European Humanities University (EHU).
She is also scheduled to meet with Seimas Speaker Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen and Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
Kaljulaid arrived in Vilnius on Tuesday night and attended a discussion-seminar at the Estonian Embassy.
