The first phase of Covid-19 vaccination of athletes who will be heading to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics has been completed in Lithuania on Thursday. The second phase should be finished by the end of the month.
The country plans to vaccinate 290 athletes, coaches and medics, according to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.
Candidates of Lithuania's national sports teams that will represent Lithuanian at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, as well as their coaches and other staff are now being immunised against the coronavirus.
Fifth of teachers have antibodies
Over 4,000 teachers have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Lithuania, the Health Ministry told BNS on Thursday.
The ministry says it is not collecting information on the number of teachers who refused the jab.
Meanwhile, a total of 8,811 antibody tests have been carried out since January 25 and they show that 1,579, or 17.9 percent, of the tested teachers had coronavirus antibodies.
Moreover, 1,485 PCR tests have also been carried out since January 29 and 196 (13 percent) have come back positive.
Lithuania plans to vaccinate a total of 30,000 teachers.
