Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda wants to set up a council of health experts that will be involved in shaping the country's policies to manage the coronavirus pandemic.

“Today, the president spoke with several of the best health experts in Lithuania and the president decided to establish an advisory council of health experts at the presidential office to ensure that experts' voice is heard and enabled,” said the president's adviser Simonas Krėpšta Thursday.

The new council will also help “ensure as smooth as possible the handover of crisis management” from the current government to the next.

New coronavirus cases hit a new record in Lithuania over the past 24 hours with 950 new cases and six more deaths were recorded, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.
