Lithuania reported 766 new coronavirus cases on Monday morning, another record-breaking daily increase. Two more people died from Covid-19.
The National Public Health Centre (NVSC) officials have so far finished tracing only 298 cases.
The biggest cluster, 17 new cases, is linked to a hospital in Plungė, western Lithuania. Nine other cases were confirmed in Klaipėda Hospital.
One of the victims of Covid-19, from Kaunas County, was in their 60s and had health conditions before contracting the virus.
The second person passed away on October 16, but was only included into Covid-19 fatality statistics on Monday. The person was in their 50s and also suffered from other health issues.
Lithuania has confirmed 10,949 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. About two-thirds of them, 6,600, remain active cases, while 4,166 people have recovered.
The country's death toll now stands at 136. Forty-seven other patients who had Covid-19 have died of other causes.
At the moment, 31,690 people are in isolation.
According to the Health Ministry, 322 coronavirus patients are currently treated in the country's hospitals, 31 of them in intensive care.
In all, Lithuania has about 17,100 hospital beds, according to the ministry, with a little over 10,000 currently occupied. Of the 651 available beds in intensive care, 331 are occupied.
Thirteen municipalities in the country have been put under local quarantine as of Monday. Eight more municipalities – including the cities of Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda – were put in the ‘red zone’ of high-risk localities last Friday, although no decision over quarantining them has been made yet.
