Eighty-eight new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Lithuania over Monday, the National Public Health Centre (NVSC) reported on Tuesday morning.
Eighteen of the new cases are linked to one hospital in Radviliškis, a town in Šiauliai County in the north of the country. One is a patient at the hospital, seven employees and 10 secondary contacts. In all, the cluster has 133 confirmed cases of Covid-19.
One case diagnosed on Monday has been traced to Šiauliai Hospital, northern Lithuania, a cluster that has 40 infections so far.
Two more cases in Šiauliai are employees at a local police station. Five cases were diagnosed in the station previously.
Six cases are employees at Kaunas Musical Theatre.
Public health specialists have not yet determined the sources of 21 new infections, the NVSC said.
Three people are believed to have contracted the virus while travelling abroad: two in Ukraine and one in Denmark.
In all, Lithuania has confirmed 4,578 coronavirus infections since the start of the pandemic. Of them, 2,118 remain active cases, while 2,349 people have recovered.
So far, 88 people have died of Covid-19. Nineteen more patients had been diagnosed with the disease, but died of other causes.
At the moment, 22,976 people in the country are in isolation. In addition to active cases, the number includes people who have been in close contact with the confirmed cases and travellers from coronavirus-affected countries.
