Forty-five new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Lithuania over Monday, bringing the country's total count to 3,859, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday morning.
In two cases, infections were contracted abroad: a person in Vilnius was diagnosed after returning from Belarus, while a resident of Alytus returned from Ireland.
Four new infections have been attributed to the outbreak in Radviliškis Hospital in northern Lithuania, currently the biggest coronavirus hotspot in the country with 67 confirmed cases.
In one case, the infection was confirmed post mortem in a patient who died of other causes. Two other cases are employees of the hospital.
Four other cases have been linked to Šiauliai Hospital in northern Lithuania.
In Vilnius, four of the new cases have been traced to a known cluster in a gym (Gym Plius) and four more to a dance studio (City Dance). In all, the two hotspots account for 18 and 16 confirmed cases, respectively.
There are currently over 30 active hotspots of coronavirus infection in the country, Rolanda Lingienė of the National Public Health Centre (NVSC) told LRT RADIO. Most of them are households, but increasingly the virus is spreading through hospitals, she said.
Lithuania currently has 1,529 active cases of Covid-19 and 2,225 recoveries.
Eighty-seven people have died of Covid-19 in the country so far, and another 18 coronavirus-infected patients have died of other causes.
At the moment, 15,491 people are in isolation.
