The Lithuanian cabinet has decided to allocate additional 3.9 million euros for next month's parliamentary election.
The Central Electoral Commission said it needed the extra funding to ensure safety amid the coronavirus pandemic.
It is extending the early voting period and opening more polling stations, which will require hiring more members of electoral commissions.
On Wednesday, the Cabinet was scheduled to discuss proposals to allocate a total of 200 million euros in funding, including for dealing with the consequences of the coronavirus crisis.
The bulk of the money, 191.2 million euros, was to be allocated to the Social Security and Labour Ministry for measures aimed at protecting jobs and incomes.
