Two hip-hop artists from the United States, Big Sean and Travis Scott, have baffled their fans on both sides of the Atlantic by releasing a new track entitled Lithuania.
The song’s video has few links with Lithuania, but shows clear references to the cult classic The Shining directed by Stanley Kubrick. The lyrics also pose no fewer questions – they focus mostly on the career achievements and popularity of the duo.
“It’s a bit like, hey, let’s put a random and little-known country in the name so it's exotic,” wrote Ramūnas Zilnys, LRT’s music journalist and editor, on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the YouTube video featuring over 3 million views has been filled with commentators, asking where Lithuania is, or poking fun at the rappers for their choice.
Both artists are extremely popular on boths sides of the Atlantic. The 2017 album by Big Sean, I Decided, and the 2018 album by Travis Scott, Astroworld, topped in the charts in the US.
