NATO mine hunters to call at Lithuania’s Klaipėda

Three ships from the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One (SNMCMG1) will arrive in Lithuania’s port of Klaipėda on Thursday.

The German flagship FGS Donau (A516), as well as mine countermeasure vessels Fulda (M1058) from the German Navy and Ramsey from the British Royal Navy will stay in the port until Saturday and will be replenished.

The schedule of the visit will include a working meeting of the group’s command and staff officers with the representatives of the Lithuanian Navy.

Lithuania will take over the command of the NATO mine countermeasures group from Norway in late June.

The group is part of the maritime component of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) at the NATO Response Forces (NRF).
