Coronavirus: 10 new cases, Covid-19 confirmed at 14 nursing homes

Lithuania has confirmed 10 new cases of the coronavirus, the country’s National Public Health Centre said on Thursday morning.

The total number of infections now stands at 1,385. Meanwhile, 589 people have recovered, 595 are in self-isolation, 45 have died, and 751 are still infected with Covid-19.

A total of 125,555 tests for Covid-19 have been carried out in the country since the beginning of the epidemic, including 7,354 on Tuesday.

Coronavirus at 14 nursing homes

Coronavirus cases have been confirmed at 14 nursing homes in Lithuania, the country's National Public Health Centre (NVSC) said on Thursday.

“We have 14 social care establishments with at least one case,” Ginreta Megelinskienė of the NVSC told a press conference on Thursday.

The latest cases were diagnosed at a nursing home in Antaviliai, on the outskirts of Vilius, where 11 residents and four staff members tested positive for the coronavirus.

Moreover, 22 patients and five staff members at a nursing home in the town of Kartena, in the western district of Kretinga, were diagnosed with Covid-19.

Earlier, two cases were identified at two establishments in Anykščiai District. In both cases, staff members did not have any symptoms.

Precautions have been taken at these establishments and the staff members were isolated in time, Megelinskienė said.
