Twelve new coronavirus cases were diagnosed in Lithuania over Thursday, bringing the country's total count to 1,410, the Health Ministry said on Friday morning. Two infection-related deaths were reported on Friday.
Both patients were treated at Klaipėda University Hospital, according to Rolanda Lingienė of the National Public Health Centre.
Both patients belonged to the risk group, she said, meaning they were of an advanced age or had previous health conditions.
A total of 136 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospitals in Lithuania, Lingienė said. Seventeen of them are in intensive care, nine people are out on ventilators and 28 need oxygen therapy.
In all, 42 patients have died of the virus in the country so far, and 430 people, including 91 medical workers, have been confirmed to have recovered.
Two Covid-19 victims were reported on Thursday. A man in his 80s from Kretinga, western Lithuania, had been treated in Klaipėda University Hospital.
A 59-year-old woman with the coronavirus passed away in Vilnius.
In all, 90,992 tests for Covid-19 have been carried out in the country, including 7,401 on Thursday. The backlog of untested samples stood at 2,273 samples, according to the Health Ministry.
