The Lithuanian Health Ministry reported 59 news cases of the coronavirus on Sunday morning, bringing the total to 1,298. On Saturday, 5,219 tests were performed out of 64,035 since the pandemic began.
This comes on top of the spike of 90 reported on Saturday. Fifty-two of them were workers in a garment factory in Nemenčinė, a town north of Vilnius, which was placed under a lockdown on Friday.

The government vowed to test all adult residents of the town.
Meanwhile, a 34th person has died from Covid-19 in Lithuania. The person passed away in Klaipėda, and was in a risk group, according to the National Public Health Centre.
A first case was diagnosed in a military police unit at the Lithuanian Armed Forces. According to Andrius Dilda from the military’s public relations department, a number of personnel are in self-isolation. In recent weeks, members of the military police have been working alongside the regular Lithuanian police.
The Lithuanian military has so far confirmed 10 people with Covid-19, and one person has already recovered, Dilda told lrytas.lt.
On Saturday, the mayor of Klaipėda, Vytautas Grubliauskas, said a breakou has been reported at a private nursing home, Klaipėdos Hospisas (Klaipėda Hospice). Ten workers and 30 residents have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.
