Lithuanian Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga said on Thursday that police officers will hand out 120,000 facemasks during the Easter weekend.
“Even though it’s a relatively small number, it will be a practical, graspable help for those who are struggling to obtain [facemasks],” he told reporters.
The masks will be handed out by officers across Lithuania.
The Lithuanian government announced on Wednesday that wearing a facemask will be mandatory from Friday.
However, Veryga said on Thursday that the requirement is flexible, and people can use scarves or other means to cover their faces.
