The Lithuanian Health Ministry reported two deaths from Covid-19 on Sunday. In all, 13 people have died from the coronavirus in Lithuania, and seven have recovered.
One of the victims is the owner of Šeduva Mill, a resort complex in Radviliškis region, northern Lithuania. Both of the deceased had chronic illnesses.
Although the Health Ministry confirmed that two people died from Covid-19 on Sunday, the head of emergency centre in Radviliškis region, Zigmas Daukša, said the cause of death will be confirmed on Monday.
"No one can confirm whether he died from [Covid-19]," said Daukša, adding that it's likely "we will receive the official data from [appropriate] institutions on Monday morning".
Forty new cases
The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Lithuania has risen to 811, the Lithuanian government reported on Sunday morning. Forty new cases were diagnosed on Saturday.
A total of 2,269 samples were tested on Saturday, bringing the total number of tests to 23,645.
A first case of the coronavirus was reported in Varėna region in southeastern Lithuania.
"A [senior patient] was brought to Santara Clinics in Vilnius," said the mayor of Varėna Region, Algis Kašėta. "The other two family members are in self-isolation."
