Coronavirus: no new cases in Lithuania

As of Thursday morning, Lithuania has one confirmed case of the Covid-19 virus. A woman was diagnosed with the coronavirus last week. Four samples are being tested, according to a statement from the Lithuanian government.

Sixteen new samples were tested for the coronavirus in Lithuania on Wednesday, all the results were negative.

In all, Lithuania has so far tested 231 samples. The National Public Health Centre is currently monitoring 5,103 people who have travelled to countries with Covid-19 outbreaks.

Lithuania's first and so far only case of coronavirus infection was confirmed last Friday. A woman tested positive after returning from Verona in northern Italy. She is being treated in a hospital in Šiauliai, a town in northern Lithuania.

Estonia has confirmed two Covid-19 cases, while Latvia has one.

Worldwide, authorities have confirmed more than 95,000 cases of the coronavirus, more than 80,000 of them in China. Over 3,000 people have died globally, the vast majority in China.

In Italy, the worst-affected country in Europe, 107 people died of the coronavirus and over 3,000 cases have been confirmed.
